Ingredients
Melatonin
Due to extensive research, melatonin has received two authorized Health Claims from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), one pertaining to the reduction of sleep onset latency and another addressing the alleviation of subjective feelings of jet lag [1] Research data indicates that melatonin provides benefits across different populations[2], enhancing sleep quality and duration, particularly for adults with delayed sleep phase disorder.[3] Clinical studies also demonstrate that taking melatonin in doses up to several milligrams is safe and does not result in serious side effects. GRIFFONIA SIMPLICIFOLIA EXTRACT
The African black bean, derived from Griffonia simplicifolia, contains 5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP), a precursor to serotonin, a neurotransmitter known for its positive impact on mood. Serotonin, in further succession, acts as a precursor to melatonin [7]. Research indicates that 5-HTP might boost mood [8, 9] and elevate serotonin levels in certain groups of individuals [10].
VALERIAN EXTRACT
Valerian extract generally shows positive effects on sleep structure and sleep perception or on sleep quality [11, 12]. These benefits are linked to valerian extract's valerianic acids and valerenic acid content, which interact with human gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors [13-15]. GABA and its receptors are known for their anxiety-reducing and relaxing properties [16].
